Spanish can open doors for learning many skills that will help students to be college ready and prepare them for the future workforce. Learning Spanish can help you to succeed in other subjects since you will be focus on improving your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Other benefit is that learning a new language help students to understand other cultures and appreciate differences. Education: Degree(s) and school(s): BA, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Colombia MAT, University of North Carolina, Charlotte Teaching Experience: Southwest Middle School- CMS Spanish Teacher and Department Chair Charlotte Country Day Spanish Teacher. About Me... I am a native of Colombia. I studied at Pontifical Xavierian University (Pontificia Universidad Javeriana). I completed my Master's of Arts in teaching with major in Foreign Language Education at University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have worked in education for 15 years, first at Central Piedmont Community College where I served as a Senior Academic Advisor, then I worked as Spanish teacher for Southwest Middle school and Charlotte Country Day. I consider myself a long life learner. For this reason, I believe learning is exciting and fun. I have integrated contextualized experiences of the Spanish language and culture into my lessons. These applications include exposure to the target culture and experiences where students can use everyday language. I can't wait to meet you! |
